Busing Issues

Bus 16 and 27 have been running very late recently both in the morning and afternoon due to a shortage of bus drivers. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working with transportation to try and find a solution that does not have our students arriving at school late and/or waiting in the afternoon for buses to come.

That said, it would be helpful to hear from families who are impacted by these issues. If you have concerns or information to share regarding busing, please contact Mrs. Connolly by calling the main office at (207) 773-7375, emailing at connolbe@spsdme.org, or responding to this message through Reach My Teach.

Title 1 Information

Our school is funded through many different sources. The majority of our funding comes from local and state dollars. Skillin also received federal funds through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). These additional dollars are a benefit for our school. We qualify for this benefit due to the number of students who are eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch.

Title I, is a federal program designed “To provide all children a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps.”

We use these funds to pay for additional staff. Our goal is to support all students making achievement gains, including our students who are furthest from opportunity.
