Family Game Night is This Friday!

We will be hosting our second annual Family Game Night in the Skillin Gym on November 17th from 6:00-7:30. The entire Skillin community and all families are invited for a night of games and treats!

Get ready for some board games, crafts, larger than life games, Bingo, snacks, a cupcake walk, and some special guests!

This event was lots of fun last year, and we need your help to make it a success this year! Help set up, run the craft or a game, or help with clean up.


Announcing: Our Poinsettia Sale!

'Tis the season to spread joy, and what better way to do it than with the our Poinsettia sale! With Poinsettias in stunning red, pink, and white, you can add some holiday magic to your home while supporting Skillin. Let's make the season merry and bright together! 

Order your flowers by November 29th and pick them up at Skillin on December 5th from 3:15 to 6:00.


The Playground Committee Meets this Tuesday

If you’d like to learn more about what’s been done for the playground, what’s still to come, and give input into the plans, come to the Playground Committee Meeting on Tuesday, November 14 at 6:00 in the Skillin Art Room.

The Playground Committee is a great opportunity to influence the evolution of the playground. We want your ideas and comments on how to create the best play space for all students and the community.

PTA Meeting Recap

We had a great PTA meeting last week. Thank you to all who joined! Below is a recap of our discussion:

  • Treasurer Ann-Marie gave an update on the budget, with the success of the No Frills Fundraiser, all of our planned events and activities are within budget

  • Co Presidents Tasha and Kristin gave an update on recent activities and what’s to come

    • We have been busy! Thank you to all of the volunteer who have contributed their time to Fall Cleanup and Popcorn Friday, we appreciate your help.

    • The No Frills Fundraiser has wrapped up and was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who donated, we surpassed our goal and raised $6,500! We will be able to fund a field trip for each grade, plus the Chewonki Traveling Animals, and the Maine Marimba Band.

    • The Skillin PTA has been selected to receive one of the Maine Environmental Education Association’s 2023-2024 Mini-Grants for Outdoor Learning in the amount of $1,500. This money will go towards plants, tools, and resources to maintain the Learning Gardens.

    • The Student Directory will be distributed soon by email and in red take-home folders.

Join us at our next meeting on Thursday, March 28 at 6:00. Our PTA Meetings are a great opportunity to gain information about what's happening in the school and share your ideas and suggestions for future activities, events, and directions. We welcome you to be involved, have a voice, and join the fun!
