The Move-a-Thon Was a Success!

Thank you to everyone who donated and came to the playground for the first annual Move-a-Thon. The final donations are in and we raised a total of $6,100 for the Skillin playground! It was our biggest (and most fun!) fundraiser of the year.

Don’t forget: your Move-a-Thon donation qualifies for company match program. If you have questions, ask your employer or email the PTA at SkillinSchoolPTA@gmail.com

We’re looking for feedback to make next year’s Move-a-Thon even better, we’d love to hear your thoughts in our anonymous survey

A Look Back on a Great Year

From the start we have said this year was a rebuilding year for the Skillin PTA, and we have accomplished so much! Some highlights include:

  • Meeting our fundraising goal of $18,000!

  • Funding field trips for all grades, including our incoming Kindergarteners currently in the Pre-K program

  • Supporting 2 visiting enrichment programs (Chewonki Animals, Maine Marimba Ensemble)

  • Funding a special Field Day for our 4th graders

  • Planning and holding 7 free school-wide family events (Open House Ice Cream Social, Family Game Night, Spring Fling, and Playground Meetups)

  • Hosting activities during the school day to get our students outside and active (Greening Day, Move-a-Thon)

  • Coordinating family night out at the Maine Mariners hockey game

  • Surprising and delighting Skillin students with seasonal treats (slap bracelets, school spirit beads, Hawaiian leis for the last day of school)

  • Securing a $38,000 grant towards a new playground structure

  • Ensuring every student received a book at the Book Fair

  • Proposing and funding a new school mascot costume

  • Standing up a coffee station in the Teachers Lounge

  • Gifting a scholarship to Lucas Inman, a Skillin alum who graduated from SPHS this year

  • Creating a robust PTA website, a source for everything Skillin PTA

  • Recycling 20,000 bottles through our CLYNK returnable program

  • Popping over one million popcorn kernels

Let’s Make Next Year Even Better!

We want to hear from you. To continue helping our students in the best way possible, we are asking families to complete a quick, anonymous survey to inform our plans for the 2023-2024 school year.

Thank you for your support and have a great summer!
