Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Hello families,

We have arrival and dismissal procedures in place to maintain the safety of all staff and students. We are asking that you read these and follow them. Please pay close attention to those procedures in BOLD print as they are our biggest concerns to date.

ARRIVAL PROCEDURES:

Walkers

  • The back door that leads to the playground blacktop will open at 8:45 am.

  • Students must be supervised prior to that by an adult. Siblings younger than 4th grade may NOT be responsible for a younger sibling at arrival time.

Drop Off

  • When entering the parent drop off loop, please pull ALL THE WAY UP to the end of the circle.

  • Children must remain in vehicles until 8:45 am. Please do not allow your child to run around outside for safety reasons.

  • Once staff emerge from the building, students may enter the building.

  • Students may stop at the cafeteria to grab a breakfast to bring to their classroom.

  • Students then proceed directly to their classrooms.

Bus Students

  • Buses will arrive in the bus loop and wait until doors open at 8:45 am.

  • Students exit the bus and enter school.

  • Students may grab a breakfast from the grab and go station

  • Students then proceed directly to their classrooms.

Students should not be dropped off at school prior to 8:45 since no supervision is provided. Please note that Board Policy ID (School Day) states that the school department shall not be responsible for non-bused students who arrive on school grounds earlier than 15 minutes before the start of the school day.

DISMISSAL PROCEDURES:

Staff is on duty throughout the building and at each exit to ensure that all students are accounted for and exit the building safely.

Walkers/pick up

  • Students who walk to school will only be dismissed to a known adult by the staff supervising at the playground door.

  • Students who are picked up at the pick up/drop off loop will wait under the awning until a staff member calls for them to go to their vehicle. Parents/guardians should be prepared to give a staff member their child’s first and last name and grade level.

  • Kindergarten students will be picked up at their classrooms by a staff member and escorted to the appropriate dismissal site.

  • If students are to be dismissed to a sibling, parents/guardians must provide permission, in writing, to the main office. Siblings younger than 4th grade may NOT be responsible for a younger sibling at dismissal time.

  • If a student is picked up by a daycare provider, parents/guardians must let the teacher and main office know the dismissal plan and the same process is followed.

  • All adults picking up students using a vehicle, MUST stay in their vehicle, and go through the pick up line. You MAY NOT park and walk up to the pick up area nor send someone else from your vehicle to the pick up area.

If there is going to be a change in a child’s dismissal plan, the main office must be notified ASAP to allow for the change to be communicated to staff. Parents may call the main office or send a note in with their student. No changes in dismissal should be made after 2:40pm.

Thank you for taking the time to review our procedures so our staff can maintain the safety of all staff and students.
