2024-25 Board & Special Area Leads Needed

A change in leadership is upon us! Our fearless Co-Presidents and Vice President have reached the end of their terms, plus we’re in need for new leads for a few specific areas. We’re looking for Skillin parents with energy, enthusiasm, and ideas!

  • Do you love bringing people together and making things happen? Are you all about supporting Skillin and making it the best it can be? Be one of our Co-Presidents!

    We need enthusiastic, creative problem-solvers who want to help shape the experience at Skillin and drive community engagement. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving collaboration, advocacy, and support for Skillin students and staff.

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Serves as the point of contact for the Principal

    • Works with Principal, Admin Staff, and PTA Executive Board to identify school community wants & needs

    • Creates plans for the year, including goals and calendar

    • Steers the work of the PTA Board and Committee Captains to ensure they meet the goals of the PTA

    • Coordinates the agenda and leads PTA Member Meetings and Executive Board Meetings

    • Actively promotes sponsorship for PTA initiatives

    • Serves as the point of contact for parents with questions about the PTA

    • Represents the Skillin PTA at meetings outside the organization, such as the district-wide PTA meeting

    • Guides members in finding their passion project for the PTA

    Time Commitment: Average 5-10 hours per week, busiest at beginning of school year. Leads 1 PTA Executive Board Meeting and 1 PTA General Member Meeting every other month.

  • Would you like to get more involved in the PTA, but you’re not sure you’re ready to take the lead role? Our vice president position has your name written all over it!

    You’ll learn behind-the-scenes intel and be part of decision making on important issues throughout the year. You’ll help the presidents get things done.

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Works with PTA President, Principal, and PTA Board on behalf of the PTA

    • Assists in the annual planning for the year, including calendar, budget & goals

    • Carries out the Presidents’ duties in their absence

    • Researches and organizes ways to connect with the surrounding community

    • Collaborates with and supports Committee Captains as needed

    Time Commitment: Average 5 hours per week. Attends and speaks at 1 PTA Executive Board Meeting and 1 PTA General Member Meeting every other month.

  • Do you like to throw a good party? Are you creative while being good with details? Help us create our community-building Family Fun Nights!

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Brainstorm event themes, activities and crafts

    • Create and adhere to a budget

    • Work with the Volunteer committee to gather and coordinate volunteers needed

  • Are you enthusiastic about the power of play? Help us continue to improve the Skillin Playground so that our students all have a great place for recess!

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Explore opportunities for improvement to the Skillin Playground

    • Form a plan to spend the allotted playground budget

    • Coordinate seasonal upkeep of the blacktop

  • Do you have a green thumb? The Skillin Learning Gardens needs you!

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Form a plan to upkeep the Skillin Learning Gardens

    • Help plan activities for the Fall and Spring Greening Days

    • Attend Fall and Spring Greening Days

    • Gather and lead a group of parent and student volunteers

    • This is a newer role and is able to be molded to fit the vision of the Garden Club Lead
