Skillin Newsletter from Principal Connolly (Mid-January)

Translations: Arabic | French | Portuguese | Spanish

Hello Skillin Families!

Our Skillin students are working so hard to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind and are earning Super Skyhawk tickets for their efforts! Our nest (pictured below) is filling up quickly, and we are working toward a whole school reward. Many thanks to our art teacher, Ms. Foley, and all of our classes K-4 who created the nest as a collaborative art project.

There is a PTA meeting this evening at 6:00pm in the art room. Childcare is available.

Playground Committee

As part of our playground updates, we are forming a committee of Skillin staff and families to plan for a playground design that meets the needs of our school and community. Building off of the work already done this year, the committee will build off of the new structures that are going to be installed this summer. For more information about the playground project, please visit the PTA website at https://www.skillinschoolpta.com/special-projects. If you are interested in being part of the playground committee, please contact Mrs. Connolly at connolbe@spsdme.org.

Superintendent’s message regarding Elementary Boundaries and Configurations

Last week, Superintendent Matheney sent an email to all families regarding the formation of a steering committee for Elementary Boundaries and Configurations. Included in his message, was an invitation to apply for a spot on the committee:

The Steering Committee will include two parent/guardian representatives from each of our elementary schools. If you would like to apply to be a part of this group, please complete this brief application. We ask that all candidates have at least one child who is currently in grades PreK-3. We will let applicants know if they have been selected for the group by Friday, January 27.

Please consider submitting an application to serve on the steering committee. It is so important to have perspectives from families in all areas of our city as part of this important work. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Connolly.
