Playground Meetup is Today!
Join us today Sunday, May 7 from 1:00-3:00 on the Skillin School playground for our second Playground Meetup of the Spring. Come meet other Skillin families and enjoy an afternoon on the playground. We’ll have light refreshments, music, games, and fun!
Plus, we’ll “chalk the walk” to kick off teacher’s appreciation week by drawing on the front and rear entrances to show gratitude to the Skillin staff!
Teacher Appreciation Week is This Week
Teachers help our students BLOOM! Each day this week of May 8-12 will have a special event to celebrate our amazing teachers and show them appreciation for their hard work.
Monday - Brighten your teacher's day by wearing their favorite color to school or bringing in a picture you drew using their favorite color! Favorite colors were sent home in your student's take home folder last week.
Tuesday - Let's fuel up our teachers, breakfast will be served!
Wednesday - On their door, teacher's will find a surprise! Notes written in SEL by students for their teacher will be displayed on classroom doors.
Thursday - Our garden is in full bloom because of our teachers! Staff will have a "growing gift" waiting for them in the teacher's lounge.
Friday - Mmm, mmm! Lunch will be provided for all staff.
We need your help to make Teacher Appreciation Week a success! We need donations of food and drinks for Tuesday’s breakfast and Friday’s lunch, and need a few volunteers to help decorate doors on Wednesday and set up lunch on Friday.

Move-a-Thon Pledge Drive Begins This Week!
The Skillin School PTA is hosting our first annual Move-a-Thon fundraiser event! The Move-a-Thon is a super fun student participation fundraiser where students run, walk, skip, and dance laps around the playground to raise money for our playground project, Learning Gardens, and playground equipment.
If each student can raise $50, we will meet our fundraising goal!
Here’s how it works:
Students collect pledges or donations starting this week. Donors can pledge by flat donation or per lap around the playground completed (expect a student to complete 15 to 30 laps).
If pledging by flat donation - donations are collected online via GiveButter
If pledging by the lap - a paper pledge sheet will be sent home this week in take home folders, use these sheets to track per lap donations and follow up after the event with the final total
Friday, May 26th is the Move-a-Thon at school during recess! Come out to the playground and cheer on our students as they make their laps
All donations are due by Friday, June 2. Immediately after the Move-a-thon students will get their final lap totals and can notify donors of their final donation amounts

Want to show your Skillin pride? Check out our selection of shirts, hats, hoodies and more! All proceeds go directly back to the Skillin School PTA.
If you select “Pickup” as your shipping method, all items will be shipped to Skillin for FREE. A PTA member will be in touch with you how you would like your purchase delivered to you - sent home with student, dropped off by a PTA member, or picked up at the school.
